Iloilo City Tourist Spots & Travel Guide

After our vacation in Gigantes Island, we took the opportunity to tour around Iloilo City. The city is home to many historical landmarks so we were really excited to tour around. I was really impressed and didn’t expect the city to be as grand as it is.

Where to Stay

We stayed at Riverside Inn. It’s conveniently located in General Luna Street near SM Madurriao plus their room rates are budget-friendly too. We only paid 1500 PHP for three persons for one night. The rooms are air-conditioned and have TV and hot and cold shower.

Address: Times Square Building, General Luna Street, Iloilo City

You can contact them through these numbers: 09173095957 and 09228380191

What to Eat

Iloilo is popular for their La Paz Batchoy and a lot of those noodle houses have been operating for years. So don’t forget to try eating one.

Madge Cafe

Located inside a public market in La Paz is a small cafe offering traditional coffee.

The cafe is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. You can even see how they prepare their traditional coffee.

Tourists Spots to Visit

We only had limited time so we were’t able to visit all tourist spots in Iloilo. But these places are surely among the bests that you can visit in Iloilo.

River Espalanade

Aside from scenic views, River Espalanade provides a good place for hiking or jogging.

Address: Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) Manduriao, Iloilo City

Plazuela de Iloilo

Plazuela de Iloilo is a European-inspired commercial complex. I personally love the lights at night. Currently, a second branch of Plazuela de Iloilo is being constructed.

Location: Benigno Aquino Ave, Mandurriao, Iloilo City

Miag-ao Church

Also known as Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church, Miag-ao Church is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church has been around for about two centuries as it was built in 1786.

To get there, ride any Miag-ao or southbound jeepney from Mohon terminal.

Overall, I enjoyed touring around Iloilo City. I will surely be back to visit the other sites and to eat more! I’m particularly impressed at Mandurriao District where they have safe bike lands and pedestrian lanes. We actually just hiked from River Esplanade to SM Mandurriao at night. There are even bikes and hoverboards for rent.
